Help Using the Gamers-IRC IRC Network

1. I Forgot/Lost my Nick password - what can I do!
Please join #IRC-Help and ask an IRCOp to help you retrieve your password. They will verify the nick is indeed yours and give you the password.

2. I want to register my Nick - how do I do this?
Registering your NickName is easy, simply type in: '/nickserv register TypeAPassword' and remember what you used for a password!
The next time you connect to the Gamers-IRC network, change to your registered nick using '/nick YourNickName' and then type in '/identify TypeYourPassword' and you will be recognized as the owner of that Nick and you can use it.

3. I forgot my Channel's password and I am the founder/owner!
As the channel founder, using your /identified Nick you should be able to reset the channel password by using /chanserv set #ChannelName password TypeInANewPassword . If this does not work for some reason, please /join #IRC-Help and ask for assistance.

4. How come AOP and VOP do not work as the Help systems states they will?
At this time, due to technical issues, the ChanServ AOP and VOP access systems are not functional on Gamers-IRC. Please us the /chanserv access commands and the individual levels to manage your channel access lists.

5. Help registering a channel.
Please visit this link Gamers-IRC Channel Guide for a good tutorial on channels.

6. Where did you hide the Gamers-IRC Java Chat Client! I get a 404 error trying to find it!
With the new site layout, most links have changed and your bookmarks likely no longer work...
Sorry! But you can find the Java Chat Client on the top menubar on every page on this website, or just go to this link: Java Chat.

7. Why do I see the same IP for EVERYONE on this network? (aka. Why is everyone's IP/Hostmask the same as mine?!?)
Gamers-IRC MIRRORS all user IPs - simply put, you see your own IP when people join/part channels, when they get banned or when you /whois someone.
Everyone's IPs are mirrored in this way, so there is no reason or need to ask how to hide/disguise your IP - its automatically done for all users on the network.

Note: See ChanServ Information for ways to ban people in your channels. Its not the same as a normal ban since you cannot see actual IP/Hostmasks of users.
